Nails: L.A. Girl's 3D Effects Hologram Nail Polish in "Teal Dimension"

The product being reviewed in this post was purchased by me with my own money. The opinions stated further are my own opinions. I am not affiliated with the brand featured in this post.

I've been hearing a lot about holographic polishes lately and wanted to try them out, but most of the ones I read about cost more than I was interested in spending. So when I saw a display from L.A. Girl's featuring holographic polishes for $4.50 each, I was excited to pick one up. Only three colors were left on the display, and the one I picked was "Teal Dimension."

According to Nouveau Cheap, these polishes are new additions to the L.A. Girl line, so they aren't limited edition.

Nothing special about the packaging here; I did notice that each polish had a holographic sticker somewhat matching the polish color on the black cap, but most were peeling off, like mine. The front of the bottle has the brand name, polish line name, weight (0.47 fl. oz./ 14 mL), and other basic info.

The back is bare, and the bottom of the bottle has a sticker with the color name and number. The sticker can be peeled back to reveal (I'm assuming) the ingredients list, but I really didn't want to peel it open because then it would never stick closed again, which would mean taking the whole sticker off and losing the color name. Sorry guys!

"Teal Dimension" (GNL303) is a deep teal with lots of fine, rainbow-colored glitter. Based off swatches of other holographic polishes, I will say that these (at least "Teal Dimension") are more like polishes with glitter than polishes with extra depth and rainbow-like qualities to them. In other words, I feel like I still lack a holographic nail polish in my collection, even though I own this one, which claims to have a holographic effect.

With that being said, I love the color of this polish against my skin, and I especially love the formula. The thinner, easy-to-apply formula was a huge relief, since I applied this polish directly after removing my last manicure disaster (details on that can be found in this review). Two coats are required to get the color you see in the bottle, but the dry time is decent in between coats. Now for nail swatches! =D

You can see the green stains from my last manicure's Maybelline "Lustrous Lime"...try to ignore it!
Also, these swatches are two coats of "Teal Dimension" over a base coat of Sally Hansen Diamond  Shine. No top coat here, though I added one later.

This color looks lovely in daylight, and a bit duller in the shade. I really love it regardless. I tend to pick at my nails when I'm stressed, and my job is very hands-on (which caused a tiny piece to chip off one nail on day 2 of wear), but I think that these would hold up decently over the course of a few days if I was ever off from work that long and refrained from my bad habits.

I'm 100% satisfied with L.A. Girl's "Teal Dimension," and recommend it to those who are attracted to the color. Just don't buy this for the holographic effect - it's lacking in that feature.

Hope this review was helpful and thanks for stopping by! 'Til next time. ('<>')>

  1. Pretty! I love teal polish :)

I don't think the Color Club Halo Hues are all that expensive, more expensive than regular polish but not 15-20 like lots of holos...and they have one of the best holo effects out there!

    1. Hi Becky! :) I just looked those up and they look SO pretty, but I don't know where to find them in store. T_T I know they're probably sold online but I hate paying shipping haha. My Duane Reade has had some of their bright creams, but nothing else so far. Thank you so much for the recommendation!

it says shipping is only free over $30 but every time I've ordered one it's been either $1 or free (for orders of 1-3 bottles, I don't know why).

    1. Hi Jaya! Thanks so much for the link to this site! I found these nail polishes in Ricky's NYC by my job, but they were $12 each. x_x I see that they're $7 on this site - so if the shipping comes out on the cheaper side, I'll definitely consider! =)
